Florida Marina Monitoring & Tracking Survey

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is sponsoring, in partnership with Florida Marine Trade and Marina Associations and the Association of Marina Industries, a comprehensive inventory of Florida marinas. The data that is collected will be used to: (1) monitor Florida marina trends including numbers of slips, drystack storage, condominium slips, off-season storage, transient rentals and amenities, (2) develop an easy-to-use tool for estimating the economic impact of Florida marinas and, (3) analyze the adequacy and performance (e.g., occupancy) of Florida marinas. The primary purpose of this inventory is to collect information that will be used to design state and local policies and strategies to help insure that Florida has sufficient marina capacity to meet expected demand.

The survey was developed with significant advice from marina operators from Florida and around the country. You must have a different email address for each marina that you complete a survey for. If you own or operate more than one marina but have only one available email address, contact Dr. Ed Mahoney at mahoneye@msu.edu.

Marinas who complete the survey will have exclusive access to reports on marina trends and performance including occupancy rates and financial ratios (e.g., revenues/slip, wages and salaries/revenues). They will also have the right to use a web-based tool to estimate the economic impact of their marina on local communities. If a sufficient number of marinas respond, we will produce reports for regions of the state.

The privacy of responding marinas will be protected to the maximum extent allowable by law. We have developed safeguards to ensure your confidentiality. You can read more about our privacy practices by clicking on the Consent & Contact page above. We hope that you will respond to all the questions, but if there are questions that you don't feel comfortable answering, please skip those questions.

The survey has been designed to be convenient to answer. A unique survey will be formulated for your marina based on your responses provided in the General Marina Inforamtion section.

You can answer the survey all at one time or instead complete it during multiple sessions. At the top of each section there is a place where you can opt to exit and complete the remaining sections later. You can also change your responses to sections that you have already submitted. If possible, please complete and submit the first section before exiting the survey.

If you have any questions about the purpose of the survey, please email Dr. Ed Mahoney at mahoneye@msu.edu.

Enter ID to begin the survey even if you have previously completed
